So the best way to plan your fall experience is knowing:
Trending Fall Colors
- Trending Fall Colors: Burnt orange, mustard yellow, deep greens, and earthy browns dominate this year’s fall palette. In fact, chocolate brown is extremely popular in fashion and home decor this year. People are claiming that chocolate brown is going to replace black for a number of years. As it isn’t as harsh and seems to warm up people’s completion. This makes it more flatter and therefore, more desirable in fashion and certainly can go with many other colors. Just as black does as well. These shades evoke warmth and comfort, perfect for cozy spaces.
- You can also add neutrals to this palette
- Different tones of reds, browns and even though the lemongrass is a natural. You can add a splash of beige natural for more balance in your Fall Decor

Creating a Mood Board:
Use tools like Canva or Pinterest or freeform (app on your iPad) to gather images that inspire you—think cozy blankets, autumn leaves, and warm lighting. Arrange them to visualize your ideal fall aesthetic. I am calling the above my mood boards but of course, these are not typical mood boards. I like to create mood boards for so many things. Falls is one of my favorite season for this as many others love fall as well.

I created a fall floral bouquet for my office from a spring bouquet. As I didn’t want to have to store a lot of seasonal office decor. Also this bouquet is actually cemented in the vase which is a bit odd. I never even noticed when I purchased it as I just liked it. It has the greenery and the purple sage stems. I added the other floral branches for autumn.

The floral branches that I used were from Hobby Lobby and had beautiful, brilliant, fall colors. I think it did move this bouquet into the season of fall. This was a very expensive upgrade to make your decor last through out a few seasons.
More amazing seasonal colors
I also created another floral fall piece that is tall with quite a bit of texture. Do you love these textures and colors in this bouquet. I certainly do. These bouquet is quite tall but I also wanted it to be full and different from what I usually see. As described in this blog, adding naturals are a perfect way to balance fall color trends.

How to incorporate Colors:
Add pops of seasonal hues through throw pillows, table runners, and wall art. Pair bold tones with neutrals for balance. I would say the two bouquet(s) that I created above is somewhat of an example of incorporating these techniques. These ideas work beautifully for your Thanksgiving holiday whether you are inviting family and friends into your home or you are just cozying up your home for yourself.
I did add these fall colors to home decor as well with pillows and herringbone blanket.

This is a beautiful, soft herringbone blanket and it will fit perfectly into your fall decor. This is from this is from the Drew Barrymore line “Beautiful” from Walmart. It is less than $20.00 and looks great with my fall lumbar pillow. The lumbar pillow is also from Walmart (bhg), but I don’t believe it is available anymore. It is sold out, but they could get it back in stock again.
There are so many great quality pillows you can add to your space. Both of these items are of great quality. The blanket is very light weight so you probably are going to need another blanket for struggling up on a fall night. Herringbone is always in style and this is a great pattern.
These are just a few suggestions for your fall mood board. I hope that you are inspired to make a mood board or go out and style your home with some fabulous fall decor.
