I decided to try out another great Prequel product as I have enjoyed the Prequel Gleanser. So much so that I have purchased the Prequel Gleanser for my sister, that cleanser goes out of stock fairly often so others must agree that it is a great cleanser.
I had also previously purchased the Urea Advanced Relief Moisturizing milk. It is a nice light moisturizer and I may use it more as the summer approaches. In the winter, I prefer a thick or more occlusive cream lotion. Not to say that the ingredients aren’t great in this moisturizer, they are. Just my preference.
Foot care
My dad would always say you need to keep your feet in good shape because they have to carry a long way and for a long time. He was in the armed forces in his younger years and during that time he learned about all of the problems that could come from not taking care of your feet. Thankfully, my only issue is a buildup of dead and dry skin. I think that is a common issue.
Prequel Foot Rescue Advanced Restorative Treatment
Med pedi or chemical peel is my usual go-to because it removes dead skin so well. Resulting in soft and healthy-looking feet. After looking at the ingredients in this Prequel product, I thought this may be something that could do the same for my feet without the extreme skin peeling that you get with chemicals.
What is in it Prequel Foot product?
15% urea, 5% salicylic acid, 2% malic acid, and petrolatum, it states this right on the label of this Prequel product. There is no guessing here, which is what I like about this skincare brand and some others.
Ingredients: Petrolatum, PEG-8, Urea, Glycerin, C13-15 Alkane, Dimethicone, Salicylic Acid, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Malic Acid, PEG-40 Stearate, Cetyl Diglyceryl Tris(Trimethylsiloxy) Silylethyl Dimethicone, PEG-40 Sorbitan Peroleate, Behenyl Behenate, Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Bisabolol, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Mandelic Acid, Squalane, Water (Aqua), Tocopherol.
What do these ingredients do?
Urea is a great triple-use ingredient, a humectant, protectant, and exfoliant. In fact, this product has more exfoliating ingredients than most I have seen. It has Salicylic acid, malic acid, and mandelic acid. None of those have deep peeling effects, just mild, but they can also add a small amount of moisture to the skin as well.
Those are not the only humectants. This product also contains glycerin and squalane. I have a blog post on glycerin already. It is one of my favorite humectants or moisture barrier repair ingredients. Squalane is another. Besides, being found naturally in the body. Squalane is also an anti-inflammatory.
Not that squalane is going to help out that much if you have severe inflammation but it will help with inflammation that you don’t feel. Along with another anti-inflammatory oil called Borago Officinalis Seed Oil. Mild anti-inflammatories in foot care are important, as feet take so much abuse from us. It was impressive to me to see both in this product.
How it felt
It is a petrolatum product so it has a greasy type feel. I would say it is more of a cross between a lotion and a petrolatum feel. It sinks in right away. Although, it does leave a light film on the skin. That film is not like a soap film, it is more of a protectant feel.
That protectant also adds a light glisten to your feet like you have when you first apply a thick lotion. It didn’t stick to my socks when I put them on. It is summer now so there is a lot of sandalwear. I didn’t feel like it made my feet slide around in my sandals. However, to be honest, I don’t usually put my shoes on right after I apply. That is just my routine with anything I apply on my feet even lotion. I want the product to absorb it to soften my feet.
How did this Prequel foot product do?
It did its job of making my feet soft and supple but it didn’t do this overnight. It took a few days before I saw anything other than moisturized. Then I started to see some improvement in the feel. But with more applications, it kept improving and I will keep using it. I do like it.
Surprising use
I even applied this to my hands to see how it would work there as well. With gardening and yard work even with using gloves, my hands get rough. I apply the treatment before I put the gloves on and it seems to protect my hands. My cuticles have had the most noticeable improvement. As I am not able to examine my toenails as closely they may be improving as well as my hands.
