You still have time to make an easy and bright Easter Centerpiece. You may not have all the exact items but many of the local crafts stores have higher percentages of easter items and the grass that I used for filler is from Walmart. Two bags were about $1 and are bright green, adding to this Easter Centerpiece’s fun effect.
Items needed for this Easter Centerpiece
You don’t need the exact items that I used. But all of these items that I threw together for this basket are available locally and you may still be able to get the tulips from Amazon. They are nice and more realistic than most. I could have bent the leaves around on the tulips more to bring out the green leaf color and filled it in more but I was going for easy.
Base Container for Center Piece
All you need is a basket of some sort or a metal container anything for a base piece that is 8 inches to 2 feet. (Depending on your table or display area). This one is about 2 feet. It is a tea tray and I have had it for a very long time. The next thing you need is either chicken wire (which I didn’t use) or styrofoam. I had styrofoam from a package I had received. Lay that on the bottom. It didn’t cover all of the bottom which is fine. You can either stuff grass or eggs in the gaps.
Easter Season Filler
Throw that grass that we talked about earlier from Walmart around is cover the styrofoam or wire or floral blocks. Now, you will need a center decor item. It needs to be fairly tall depending on the width of your basket. Height is always a good thing in a centerpiece. Unless it is a romantic centerpiece and you want to see the person across from you. Easter brunch usually doesn’t have that requirement and if it does just put the centerpiece to one side of the table.
I used a wood rabbit that I got from TJ Maxx (years ago), however I purchased a white rabbit from Hobby Lobby this season. He is a little short but I would probably just throw a candle holder, candle, or anything like that underneath him I was going to use it in this centerpiece.
If you don’t have anything like that, you could also throw some candle holders in the middle, or a tall vase. If the vase is clear, you can put some eggs in the bottom of it with some of the tulips for a cute center part of your easy Easter centerpiece. If you have a metal easel and a kid’s easter book (like Peter Cotton Tale) throw that in the middle. That would be super cute. There are so many options. Look around to see if you have anything that might work. Make it easy on yourself.
Faux greenery and Momma Rabbit hiding
Using faux greenery, like the long blades of grass with some with blossom on the ends. I wanted something for my Momma Rabbit to hide behind like she was watching her two baby rabbits play from behind the grass. While long grass isn’t a necessity in an Easter display, faux greenery is. I grabbed what I had on hand. Craft stores are running sales on this type of item right now too. You might recall the little flower greenery used in the Snoopy display, that is used in this centerpiece as well. The baby’s breath flowers are from the Dollar Tree. The Tulips are a real touch tulips from Amazon.
Eggs and Carrots seem to be a symbol of Easter. So, how could I do an easy Easter centerpiece without them? These are styrofoam eggs, but you could use plastic. (Styrofoam eggs are fairly indestructible and last for many years). I have had these eggs for a long time so I can’t say where I got them from, but I think I saw some similar ones at Target. The large carrots are from Dollar Tree and the small ones are from the craft store on the 60% off sale this year.
Other fill items for the Easter Centerpiece
It is nice if you have two side pieces for added interest like the two baby rabbits but again not necessary. Now, just start arranging. I put the larger carrots in the gaps between the styrofoam pieces. Placed the faux greenery where I thought it looked good and then tulips to the side and the back of the piece. Filled in the rest with the eggs and some smaller cheap flowers from the Dollar Tree to bring in more color and fill in any gaps. Bright pinwheels would also look good in this Easter Centerpiece. I used most of Dollar Tree’s small spring flowers in the back. I believe I only got one bunch of these spring flowers for $1.25 and there were quite a lot as you can see. You will need to cut them off.
That was it. Just basically thrown together to make an easy, bright Easter Centerpiece. Happy Easter!
