Love your skin with the dry oil experience. It can be an almost luxurious to use dry oil. The oil instantly plumps up the skin and gives it a luminous feel. It also gives the skin that enhanced glow for a longer period of time.
It is so satisfying applying dry oil to the skin and feeling the soft, suppleness of your skin. Our kaleidoscope gets so full with colors with everything twirling around. We need to slow down and enjoy these little moments of taking care of ourselves.
Not all body oils are a luxurious experience. Some are sticky, others never dry down. So, why would you want to use it?

Why would you want to use a dry oil?
Oil can nourishes the skin with essential fatty acids and vitamins. This all depends on the oils used and their ability to penetrate into the layers of the skin. The good news is there are many different beneficial oils out there.
Oils by nature aren’t drying. They are meant to form a protective layer on the skin. This protective layer can leave a slick or sticky feeling on the skin. Oils can also damage fibers in clothing. That is not the same for a dry oil formulation. The Dry oil you want absorbs into the skin while provides hydration and nourishment to the skin. It needs to still have a protective layer but a very thin almost not there protective layer. It should leave the skin with a silky feel.
Dry Oil
Not all oils provide the attributes we are looking. Some products that claim to be dry oil are not. They also need to be non-pore clogging. As you want to be able to apply the products daily if needed or wanted..
Some oils can add an extreme amount of moisture to the body. Those oils may be too thick and don’t absorb quickly. Take Coconut oil for instants, I love coconut oil. In the right formulation coconut oil is a fabulous reparative oil. A dry oil is not where it shines. This oil is heavy or dense. It can be pore clogging and hard to remove from clothing. I love this oil for deep hydration but not in a dry oil.
That is not to say that heavier weight oil doesn’t have it’s place in a dry oil formula. Those oils certainly can but in lower amounts (lower on the ingredients list perhaps).
It is very important how your dry oil is formulated. I have tried many “Dry Oil” products that are not quick drying and have a greasy feel to them. To me this ruins the experience and defeats the purpose of being a dry oil.
Dry Oils Products
One draw back of using dry oils is most are expensive. People don’t find the expense worth it. I get that. One of my favorites in the less expensive category was Versed (Keep it supple) Body “dry” oil. It has now been discontinued. Which is upsetting as It had calendula (marigold) flowers and ylang-ylang oil as its spotlighted ingredients. Both great oils, but what can you do when they discontinued that product? You go on the hunt for another.
Great body after shower oil but not a fast absorbing oil as a dry oil formulation
I have tried a number of reasonably priced body oils in search of finding another great priced dry oil. One that I liked but wasn’t fast drying enough for me, BYOMA Nourishing Body Oil. As I like several products by this brand, I decided to try their body oil. This body oil wasn’t as nourishing to the skin. It did keep my skin hydrated for a good amount of time.
It contains several oils and all have beneficial properties:
- (Apricot) Kernel Oil. – nourishing but can go rancid
- Sweet Almond Oil – absorbing oil but it doesn’t have the benefits of lot of other oils and inexpensive
- (Jojoba) Seed Oil – I will go Into detail below as it is one my favorites
- Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil – anti-inflammatory oil
- Sea Buckthorn Fruit Oil.
This body oil isn’t a bad oil. I would say it is great for an after shower oil (if you aren’t getting dressed right away).
Dry oil – The hunt is over
I have discovered another great dry oil at a reasonable price with a subtle, light fresh scent. First, what do you look for in a Dry Oil? I look for little fragrance. 2nd, hydration and 3rd, absorption.
Scent
Scent in products like dry oils is not one of my favorites things. I try to avoid too much fragrance in beauty products for allergic reactions. As well as, competing with perfume.
If you like your perfume. You want to smell that or other similar fragrances, not a modge podge of competing scents. As this may be memorial to people. It may not be a good memory. Or they may just think that person has a lot of scents going one. I don’t wish for that to be the thought about me.
Another reason is for a light scent with oils is you want to smell the oil. The actual oil. Scent Is a good indicator if the oil has gone rancid. Hard to know that if the perfume smell masks everything.
Cuccio Naturale
My suggestion for a dry oil is Cuccio Naturale Hydrating Dry Body Oil. This oil packs a big punch with skin loving ingredients for a reasonable price point.
Cuccio Naturale Hydrating Dry Body Oil – Milk & Honey

The product is under $10.00 currently for 3.38 oz. Not bad price at all for a light nurturing body oil with honey. As well as great oils in the formula.
I am going to say it now it doesn’t contain ylang-ylang oil or the marigold flower oil. Which is a bummer as those are great oils.
Ingredients
However, the ingredients list is short and simple for this body oil. Short and simple ingredients list are beneficial in dry oil products. We are looking for hydration here and an easily absorbed product, not oils that can go rancid quickly either.
- Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil
- Ethylhexyl Palmitate
- Simmondsia
- Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil
- Lactis Proteinum(Milk Protein)
- MEL (Honey) (Miel)
- Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E Acetate)
- parfum (Fragrance).
Oils
Sunflower Seed oil
Sunflower Seed oil has that rich hydration due to the fact that it contains linoleum acid (omega-6). Omega-6 which helps maintain the natural skin barrier and prevents moisture loss. It also is anti-inflammatory. Which means it is great at calming redness and irritation. As well as protecting the skin from environmental stressors. So gentle that it is used in many products made for babies sensitive skin.
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil may be one of my favorite oils ever as it closely mimics the skin’s natural sebum. Sebum in natural balances helps regulate oil production. Jojoba oil is known for calming oily, acne-prone skin. This oil penetrates deeply to deliver a long-lasting hydration without clogging pores. It can help repair and protect the skin’s lipid barrier. It has anti-inflammatory properties for all type of skin.
Because it does mimic skin’s own sebum it does have a slight waxy feel to it. That is the best way I know how to described it. If you feel your own skin you will feel a slight wax feel. That is the sebum protecting your water barrier.
Lacits Proteinum (milk protein)
Lactis Proteinum, also known as milk protein. Is not an oil, as you probably already realized. Although, it is a beneficial ingredient. It can nourish, hydrate, smooth and repair the skin barrier. It’s derived from milk and is rich in amino acids, peptides, and bioactive compounds.
It smooth the skin by providing a slight bit of mild exfoliation. This is not noticeable as with some other products. The exfoliation is very mild and therefore, no irritation.
Honey
The attributes of this next ingredient are famous and well studied. This ingredient too, as been around for century(s).
Honey is an ingredient I look for in many products. It properties are unique. (This is one reason we with restore and keep the bee population). As for its attributes to the skin, there are so many. It is hard to pick which one is the best.
Honey is a natural humectant, drawing moisture to the skin from the air. It has natural enzymes that gently exfoliate and cleanse pores. The antibacterial and antimicrobial properties have been studied for year. It also has the ability to clam redness and inflammation. Promotes healing with its regenerative properties. Best of all it can brightening the skin fading dark spots and evening out skin complexion.
Details on the Other Ingredients:
Ehtyhexyl Palmitate is a formulation ingredient. I am assuming here it is used to blend the other ingredients with the oils. (Not a product formulator or chemist of any sort. Just a person who has read a lot of of ingredient list and looked at a lot of formulations).
Vitamin E: Most people are aware of Vitamin E. This oil has been used for century(s). There are many uses for vitamin E on its own. However, used in combination with some other ingredients it can strengthen them providing a much more effective product.
If those ingredients don’t say love your skin what possibly could? Love your skin and enjoy self care moments.
I am not affiliated with this company or their products. The links provided are affiliated links with Amazon. Because that is where I buy it. It is a great dry oil. I have recommended to several people and they too love it. I just found out they have a gallon size 128 oz for less than $80.00. That is an amazing price. My daughter is in massage school and I am going to tell her about it. She is always looking for a great oil that doesn’t break down sheets.
