With Thanksgiving coming up it is an appropriate time to talk about turkey neck. Do you what turkey neck is? It is sagging skin and weakened muscles. Tech neck are the horizontal lines etched by hours of looking down at screens. Or the ever popular necklace lines, which are also horizontal and cause by anything. All of them can make you feel and look older than you are or drag down your self esteem. You can reclaim a more youthful neck. I know because I have done it.
Causes of Turkey Neck
These are not my causes, these are what I am told are the causes as I really don’t know. One day, I had slight necklace lines and then it seems like over night. I had full blown turkey neck with deeply embedded necklace lines or tech neck.
Turkey neck factors
Some may be basic aging with the loss of collagen and elastic (which is what it looks like here). Genetics plays a role with some inheriting weaker neck muscles or looser skin. I am uncertain if genetics influenced my case. I don’t recall anyone’s neck issues standing out to me.
Weight fluctuations as skin stretches beyond recovery. I have had weight fluctuations over the years but I highly doubt I had enough for this factor. You may be in this category but I think you can reclaim your neck even with these factors.
Now there is lifestyle factors such as smoking, sun damage or poor diet to accelerate aging. However, all of these things seemed unlikely in my case. I don’t smoke and I don’t have a poor diet. Ultimately, I would think both of these would show up on all skin not just my neck. And even sun damage seems a bit unlikely as your neck is shaded by your chin and jawline. Usually people’s necks are far more fair from lack of sun than the rest of their body.

I was getting a reaction to something. Some hives were starting to show. That is a story for another time. These were the best pictures of my neck skin with turkey neck with embedded necklace lines.
Why does it matter to reclaim a youthful neck?
It may not to you, but it is one of the first areas to show signs of aging. Thin skin, constant movement or lack thereof (tech neck). I often see people and I think they look so young. Then I check the neck to see if they are as young as I think. Most people take less care of their neck then the rest of their face. I am not talking about the decolletage area. Some people consider the neck to be part of this area. I will have another post on that. I believe the skin there is far different from the skin on your neck.
How to reclaim a Youthful neck
Supplements
Like everything else as we age, you need to hit this from a variety of angles. As it is part of your body, you need to watch your supplements and your diet. It may not be a big wow factor in your neck’s ability to repair itself. However, it is an important part. Your body has to have the necessary elements to help in this process.
Collagen peptides
Collagen peptides. Yes, they do work. Linked are some studies on it as it was once thought to do nothing. You will need to do your research on what is best for you and your lifestyle. For example, I can’t put powder in my coffee or any where else. I just won’t do it. It doesn’t taste right or the texture is off to me and I won’t do it. You know you and what you will do. If you simply won’t do a collagen peptide supplement then don’t stress about it.
Essential vitamins and omega 3
I think these Vitamin C, E and D are essential in repairing any skin. Don’t forget the zinc. Vitamin C is essential for collagen synthesis and antioxidant protection. Zinc and E aid in ski repair and protect against oxidative stress. Vitamin D is essential in bones. All are needed. Good news is most are in a simple daily vitamin.
Omega- 3 Fatty acids – I get mine from foods in my diet. If you don’t have a diet rich in omega 3s, you need to add them as a supplement.
Clinical studies suggest that consistent supplementation can enhance dermal density and reduce visible aging signs.
Glycolic acid
Okay this is one of my favorite acids for repairing skin. However, there is a lot of research behind this as well. Glycolic acid (AHA) is a powerhouse for neck rejuvenation. It exfoliates skin which means is dissolves dead skin cells, revealing brighter, smoother skin. Collagen stimulation is another one of it’s many assets. It does this by boosting collagen and elastin production, improving firmness. Hyperpigmentation reduction by inhibiting melanin production, lightening dark patches. It is even a hydration booster. It acts as a humectant, attracting water molecules to the skin.

I got so close in this one pictures you can see tiny hair that didn’t get out of the way. Not touched up in anyway. You can see my small freckles still. Pictures were taking months apart to show that it is being reclaimed it isn’t going back to Turkey neck.
What did I use
I know a lot of people that use retinoids or Vitamin A on their neck. My neck is fair too sensitive for that type of skin care. Those absolutely do work. However, the irritation to my neck isn’t worth it.
So I use over the counter Glycolic acid (AHA). Sometimes a combination of AHA and BHA depending on the product.
The Products
Some of my favorite products for my neck are:
Spray
Beauty Pie Über Youth – Neck & Chest Super Lift Serum Spray. I love this stuff and I will review more in my decolletage post. $22.00 if you are a member. They have a free membership day coupon you can get. I wish this site would go to a non-membership format but it is what it is.
I would recommend everyone to get this spray. There is no money exchanged or free product for me stating that. Although I would accept it if they wanted to give it to me.
I am truthfully recommend this to everyone. IT does wonders for your decolletage and neck. Evening out your skin tone and helping with wrinkling in the lower decolletage area. You know the part in-between your boobs where you see wrinkling and sun damage.
Pads
Dr. Dennis Gross – Alpha Beta® Universal Daily Peel Pads

Did you know it or did you know it? I was going to talk about these again. Love these peels pads. The 1st step peel pad is the AHA exfoliation. Wait 2 minutes then Step 2. The goods.
The Ingredients
I will just give you the ingredients list:
Step 1 (ingredients):
Water/Aqua/Eau, Alcohol Denat. (SD Alcohol 40-B), Glycolic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Salicylic Acid*, Polysorbate 20, Citric Acid, Lactic Acid, Malic Acid, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Soy Isoflavones, Glycerin, Copper PCA, Zinc PCA, Lecithin, Alcohol, Polysorbate 80, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance (Parfum), Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate (* – exfoliant).
Step 2 (ingredients):

I have put in bold some of my favorite ingredients. Maybe one day I will do a deep dive into all of the ingredients. I know these are peels are pricey but well worth it. There isn’t a dupe for this product that I can find. There are some other great ones out there but not a true alternative. But if you don’t want to spend out the money there are other products I have used.
Toners
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating and Brightening Daily Toner

This is a great toner. It can be used all over the body. Sephora carries a mini that is around $9.00. That is a great price. Many other brands have come out with similar toners. Get what works for you.
I have used The Ordinary’s toner and other brands. They have all worked great. I didn’t want to use Dr. Dennis Gross pads every day. That is why I started with the pads once a week. I used a toner or lotion on most of the other days. I say most of the days because the neck skin is sensitive. If I felt it was getting irritated, I backed off.
Lotions

Or I would use an AHA lotion in stead like the Alpha Skin Care Lotion. Gold bond has one as well. It is alright not my favorite but it may work great for you.
Naturium -The Smoother Glycolic Acid Body Lotion. I like them all.
I have had a harder time finding the Alpha one. So I mainly use the Naturium -The Smoother Glycolic Acid Body Lotion. As I use it all over my body. This is my favorite body lotion at this point. Although I can’t find it on Targets website anymore. You can still get it from Ulta for $17.00. What is up with target lately? Aren’t they supposed to be partnered with Ulta? Okay, that is a rant for another time.
The key with the neck is to be consistent with apply some type of acid on most days. Use what is in your price range because that is the one you will actually use the most. What is most day? Every other day or every 3rd day for the BHA acids.

The difference to me is remarkable and I am so happy with it. So much better than that loose old neck.
It doesn’t happen overnight. But you will see results. Let’s proof that you can turn back time and reclaim a youthful neck. Try it. You will be happy with it as well. Be sure to take a picture so you can see the change. Sometimes, it is so hard to see that change is happening until 2 months later you take a look at the picture you took at the start.
Other facts:
Note: I haven’t had any fillers or botox in my neck. For one, I don’t want to spend money on that. Besides, I don’t want to have injections in my neck that is just scary to me.
I am just out here sharing what works for me. Hopefully, at a reasonable cost for you. I am not trying to be something I am not or just show you the good parts. Life is mainly the messy bits mostly. It is not always fabulous and well curated.
I hope you have enjoyed talking Turkey about reclaiming your skin on your neck.
