As the light of day melts into the horizon, the waters of Lake Coeur d’Alene become a canvas of soft blues and ripples of gray and silver tones. The boat drifts gently, barely disturbing the glassy surface. In this quiet moment, surrounded by nature’s hush, it’s impossible not to reflect—on the beauty surrounding this landscape offers. Off in the distance you can see the outlines of trees and mountains embracing nature is something everyone should take more advantage of if they can.
Lake Coeur d’Alene Idaho

Many may have not hear of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho as it is hidden in the Northern part of Idaho with a population of 60,000. Many have, as it has always been a destination for the famous in more recent years. I have passed through this area many times usually during the day traveling further north (to another beautiful area), stopping only to look out on the lake for a brief period of time. Either way it is hard to escape the magic of the waters of the lake.
Twilight Sail and reflections
The tranquility at twilight is intoxicating and smoothing to the mind. The stress of the day or even weeks seem to drift away as you guide through the waters. The lake itself becomes a mirror of moonlight, deep blue sky and stars, casting its spell over anyone lucky enough to witness it. Even on an overcast evening it is a tranquil escape.

Reflections at Twilight: Life Lessons on the Water
Twilight has a way of softening everything. The sharp edges of everything the trees, rocks as well as worry, the noise of the day, even the weight of unanswered questions—all seem to dissolve into the stillness. The lake doesn’t rush. It simply exists, reminding us that peace isn’t something we chase—it’s something we allow.
You breathe a little deeper. And for a while, you just are—embracing your Twilight Kaleidoscope as life slows to a crawl. You start to reflect on that kaleidoscope and focus on your own thoughts. They are slow, focused and relaxed. Your soul seems to urn for more of this escape. Whispering that this is what you need more of in your life.
Even more of a contrast from the afternoon reflections on the water, which were beautiful in their own right.

Adding more reflections in to our everyday lives (kaleidoscope)
This is something that I needed in my own life as my mother passed away recently and grief can wash over you like a Gail wind. Clouding your mind of the reflection needed for those moments of clarity, peace and joy.

Incorporating this tranquility into your everyday
Plan a Start few minutes of quiet reflection. Write it in as an appointment or tell Alexa to set a 15 min timer. This has to be intentional and scheduled or will you do it? Probably not. You will tell yourself I will have time tomorrow for the tranquility. You won’t. Schedule it every day, whether it’s through meditation, journaling, or simply taking a lunch break for a walk. A walk can even be most useful if it is more of a stroll with yourself just reflecting on life. It can be a sitting with a cup of tea/coffee/drink of choice by a window, this moment of calm can transform your days.
Invite Nature In
You may have heard this everywhere as of late and have seen it with all of the indoor greenery. Add plants to your living and work life. Plants clean the air and provide a sense of calm somehow. Not to mention, you can bring light in open your blinds and step outside when you can and let the sunlight.
Transformation of music
One of my favorites things to do is to play sounds of rain, gentle waves or soft tranquil music. Music can invoke some much emotion and have play a big part in your every day life. I have heard from many people that will play instrumental soothing music on their way home from work to help them relax and set a better tone to interact with others in the life.
Create Micro-Retreats
Designate short breaks throughout your day to step away from screens and reconnect with yourself. A walk (as stated before) can do wonders, a few deep breaths on the porch, or even gazing at the sky can be surprisingly restorative.
Embrace Slow Moments
Let yourself enjoy slow meals, long showers, or simply watching the sunset. Make these little moments for yourself even if it is OJ or coffee out on the porch/steps/patio, any where you can enjoy outdoors in tranquility. It doesn’t have to be long periods of time.

When I returned for my Coeur d’Alene Lake and all of its twilight tranquility. I have began incorporate these micro moments (that is what I am calling them) into my everyday life.
Cheers my friends, to building your own kaleidoscope with the moments of your life.
