There’s just something about summer that makes us crave that effortless, sun‑kissed glow. Well, I crave it most of the time.
You know the one—warm, bronzy skin that looks like you just got back from a beach weekend. Even though, you were actually sitting in your backyard with a cold beverage. The good news? You don’t need hours in the sun to get that sultry summer tan. Or those beautiful cheek bones, that scream I should have been super model. Okay, that is a step too far.
You know what look it is. The one that makes you look healthy and golden. As we age, we seem to lose the color in our face. Or we may want to change a few angles in the face. You may prefer the soft, natural warmth or a little extra glow. These top‑rated bronzers make it easy to fake that “golden hour” look—no matter your skin tone, budget, or makeup style.
The Glow‑Givers Worth Knowing
Instead of committing to just one holy‑grail bronzer, think of this as your summer bronzer mood board. Each of these brings something slightly different to the table, so you can mix, match, and play. I have several bronzers in my collection. Usually, I layer powder over a cream product.
Sometimes I just dust a light layer over parts of my face for a wonderful deepening of my skin. Enjoy!
The OG Bronzer that everyone knows
Chanel LES BEIGES Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream
If “effortlessly chic” were a bronzer, this would be it. Chanel Les Beiges is perfect for those days when you want your skin to look naturally warmed—never heavy, never obvious. It’s subtle, refined, and very “your skin but sunnier.”
I have mentioned this bronzer in many posts. It is a classic. There are a couple of similar products but only one is similar enough. If you want to know which one – look at my other posts.
This one is $60.00 for 1 oz. It lasts a very longtime. Years in fact.

Another OG bronzer but in powder form
Benefit Bronzer
A classic for a reason. Benefit’s bronzers are approachable, reliable, and easy to work with—great if you want quick warmth without overthinking it. Whether you’re rushing out the door or touching up before dinner, this one just works.
It has been a go to for years (I believe it has been since it was first on the market). Although, I have only had 2 in all of the time. They last that long. $36.00 for .28 oz. Is that around $129 per ounce. Damn. I should have written this post a long time ago. I may not have repurchased one. Just went for the Pat McGrath Labs below. No that is not true as Pat McGrath Labs was recently released.
I have used NYX in the past with their contour palette. It was not the right tone for me and not as finely milled as Benefit and Pat McGrath Labs.

Beautiful packaging bronzer (& tone)
Pat McGrath Labs
When you want your bronzer to feel a little extra, Pat McGrath delivers. These formulas lean towards glamorous but still wearable. It giving you a richer, more radiant finish that’s perfect for summer nights, rooftop dinners, or any moment you want to glow with confidence.
That may sound like selling the dream. It is in a way. This bronzer makes you feel like the makeup from the 1920s. It has an elegant packaging that makes you feel special. Now as for your rooftop dinners – I can’t say if that is your life. But you can dream, my friend.
I would be so sweet if the packaging would be that old world style with the metal cover. The same design on it as the cardboard packaging. If that were refillable as well. hmm….chef’s kiss, my darling.
But as it is this one is $39.00 and the website doesn’t even give me the ounces. But the actual bronzer does and it is .33 oz. Is that approximately $118 per ounce. Although if it came with that refillable gorgeous packaging I would pay more.

Wallet Friendly and oh so beautiful, Kiko Milano
KIKO Milano

KIKO is proof that you don’t need to splurge to look sun‑kissed. Their bronzers are smooth, flattering, and easy to blend, making them a great everyday option. Ideal for layering or building up slowly, especially if you like a natural‑to‑bronzed transition.
Look at this gorgeous color. It is soft and beautiful on the skin. Kiko Milano cream bronzer lasts a long time. This bronzer is easy to grab and take with you.
It is $16.00 for .35 oz. That does translate to around $45+ dollars per ounce.
That is quite an inviting price. As well as the baautiful skin like tone of this product. Not orangey in the least.
This one isn’t as popular and not hyped up by every influencer but it is simply a great product. Kiko Milano is a great beauty line in general.
More drugstore bronzers
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer
Light, buttery, and famously easy to wear, this is a go‑to if you love a soft, beachy vibe. It’s especially great for bronzer beginners or anyone who prefers a gentle warmth that never looks muddy or overdone.
I don’t have a picture from my own collection here, as I broke mine a while ago. I haven’t repurchased as I have so many others in my collection. That doesn’t mean it isn’t a great bronzer. If I were honest I would have to say the smell is what makes this product so unique.
It is $14.00 to $16.00 for .38 oz. – making similar in price point to the Kiko Milano above.
The Sephora Collection Bronzer Babe

Simple, versatile, and surprisingly good. Sephora’s bronzers are easy to blend and budget‑friendly. Thus, making them perfect for experimenting with placement or trying out new bronzing techniques without commitment.
It may look more deep in color than you would like to use. Truly, it is not. It blends beautiful into the skin. It can be built upon. Layer after layer for your desired look. Creamy.
This one is $16.00 for .19 oz. Which makes it somewhere around $64 an ounce. So budget-friendly would be more of not taking a lot of your wallet at the time of purchase.
Chanel is looking a lot more affordable now. Not as easy to carry around as this one and that means something as well.
The Wands – Good and the Bad
Hollywood Contour Wand – Charlotte Tilbury
When this liquid bronzer bursted onto the scene it was the thing. Everyone talked about the easy to blend liquid. You could use it as an eye color if you wanted the full bronze look. The colors looked like skin. Which meant you have a sun kissed look with little effort.
Since then many others have hit the market. Including Beauty Pie and ELF Halo Glow Contour Beauty Wand. Personally, I would choose one of those before this one by Charlotte. No offense Charlotte. Yours is beautiful but the sponge applicator can tend to fall off.
Not that you still can’t use it. You can. However, some of the intrigue of this product was to dot it on with the sponge tip applicator.
The Elf one is $10.00 for .33 ounces. Which comes to about $30.00 per ounce. So far, about the cheapest on my list. It also has that sponge tip applicator but it stings less if you have paid only $10.00 for the product rather than $44.00 for .40 oz.
BP also has one that is so similar to Charlotte Tilbury’s I really couldn’t tell the difference. That being said, the sponge tip can fall off of that one as well. And the tubes can burst open on a plane or in travel.
Just keeping it honest, folks.

How to Make Your Bronzer Look Sultry (Not Streaky)
No matter which bronzer you choose, a few easy tips make all the difference:
- Use a light hand and build gradually—summer glow should look effortless.
- Hit the high points where the sun naturally touches: cheekbones, temples, forehead, and a touch across the nose.
- Blend, blend, blend. Harsh lines ruin the illusion.
- Match the finish to the vibe: matte for daytime heat, soft glow for evenings.
The Real Secret to a Summer Tan
The best bronzer isn’t about trends or hype—it’s about how it makes you feel. Confident. Warm. Glowing. Maybe even a little sultry. Whether you lean towards luxe, drugstore, or somewhere in between, the right bronzer can instantly transform your summer makeup routine.
So grab a fluffy brush, turn up your favorite summer playlist, and bronze like the sunshine is following you everywhere.
