Blue & White tea Jar

I love the color blue. All of its hues, everything. I believe I have always loved this color. I picked my favorite NFL team because of its colors when I was 6 or 7. Never has changed. Still support them, whether they disappoint me or not. Same with blue, I will probably always love it.

Which is why I was not surprised to see it again in Interior design. They are stating blue is staging a comeback in 2026 interiors. Did it leave? In 2020 Pantone’s blue picks was Classic Blue and Very Peri in 2022. Sherwin Williams in 2020 with naval. I could go on and on. My point being that blue remains a versatile counterpoint for balance and depth in Interior Design.

So as you can see it has been used in colors of the year from many years now.

Designers are turning to blue for calm anchors, statement pieces, and layered palette. Shea McGee (Studio McGee) stated in a recent video that she is doing cabinetry in a craft room in blue. She used some designer words, but what are these words that Designers throw around?

Words in Interior Design

First, calm is the mood. Anchor is walls, cabinetry, etc. Anchors read as timeless. They can also be statement piece. Larger statement pieces are commonly associated with a piece of furniture, but can be art to larger accent pieces. As in statues, lanterns, candle sticks or even staircase.

Accents

An Accent is fabrics to tiles. Accents let you follow fast-moving trends. I think a good example is the Ginger or tea jars that have become so popular. These are following the “grandma trend”. Also these jars have also a classic and timeless stable in interior design.

1st picture is from Willams Sonoma (WS) Lotus Ginger Jar for $120.00. Beautiful blue paint strokes in this jar along with the classic design. Next, is WayFair (WF) Ginger Jar for $59.99 on sale. Again classic design with deep blue definition. Amazon’s Ginger Jar is 3rd for $37.99. Classic design with faded blue and deep blue. Nice Lid much like the Willams Sonoma. Last, is what I have in my home. I liked the butterfly design and the deeper blue. This is an heirloom and someone broke the lid. That makes it more heartwarming to me.

Unusual navy blue pumpkin for Fall Decor

I will probably be adding more tea jars to my decor for 2026. I want more of the deep blue but I don’t want a Ginger Jar. Adding in a few accents is a wonderful way to add that grounding blue to your home.

It was very unusual to see a blue pumpkin when I purchased this one. I loved it. I mentioned before my love for blue. Using this color in a various of ways in my fall decor displays makes me smile. That is the whole point, you should enjoy where you live or work.

Don’t get stuck where you don’t move out of your comfort zone. You can incorporate this trend.

Earthy tones with beautiful blue home decor

Even though some 2026 palettes lean warm and earthy, blue returns as a design stabilizer and a modern classic. Forecasts that highlight heritage tones and tactile materials create the perfect backdrop for blue. Designers are using blue to add perceived depth in small spaces. Or to create restful bedrooms and sophisticated kitchens. Blue pairs especially well with warm woods, brass, and natural stone.

Over-reliance on a single color or even changing your wall color new year is not a practical idea.

This is where accents come into play. Balancing trend hues with timeless neutrals and quality materials is a balancing act.

Inspiration

There is so much inspiration in images on the internet. Or Pinterest. You could create a college from all of your pins. They may inspire you to add blue to your interior decor.

Great example of revamping a statement piece into the Blue in Interior Decor is below. Along with other inspirations.

Final takeaway

Blue’s comeback in 2026 is less about a single shade and more about function: it calms, anchors, and modernizes. Use a Classic Blue for permanence and trending blue for contemporary accents. Always test in your space before committing to large surfaces.

I may try out blue in my downstairs office which is in great need of a makeover. If I do you will see it here.
